HSHS JROTC competed at a 3 position rifle meet, at Mayfield HS in Las Cruces, as part of the early bird completion meet. Pedro Reyes finished 8th and the team finished 3rd place out of 10 teams

Mr. Torres and Ms. Anderson took our STEAM Team to Santa Fe for a truly unique experience. Twenty HSHS students engaged with educational outreach experts to learn about human evolution and adaptation. Dr. Blinman, director for the Center for New Mexico Archeology, provided insightful and inspiring group discussions. Students learned and inquired about Dr. Jones' archaeomagnetism and radiocarbon chronological analytical research. Mary hosted groups of students where they worked on textile methods using yucca plants leaves. Isaac showed students how to use bows and arrows, and atlatl spears, then students trajected them to animal props. The experience was real and eye opening. Our Tigers learned, had fun and asked great questions.
Hot Springs High School will have our picture day on Wednesday, September 7th. Have your students put on their bright smiles for that day. They have all been given order forms. Please fill that out and have payment given directly to the photographers on that day. You can also place your orders online - all the information is on the order forms that your students should already have.

The district’s Safety and Security Coordinator, Alfredo Aguirre, trained HSHS staff on the new Raptor Security System which not only serves to track visitors, staff, and students but also send alerts to designated staff for fire drills, lock down drills, shelter in place drills, and medical emergencies, plus so much more!
This week’s passing of the PAWs-itivity Tiger went to Carmella Barreras! Ms. Barreras teaches Band and Choir to high school and middle school students, and Driver’s Education to our high school students. When she first took on the music program, it was struggling to maintain enough students to even make a small performance… Now she has 50+ students in the marching band and she has orchestrated some magnificent choral performances! Her dedication to her students is paralleled to her passion for music!
